The benefit of this installation over a transfer switch is the few seconds during the transfer. A transfer switch will switch between the grid and the backup generator load production, but it will result in a complete shut down of all electrical equipment attached to the system. This is not acceptable for many installations. When you need perfect power, and you just aren't getting it from your primary power source, the answer is a secondary power source, an inverter to sync the sources, and a battery bank to maintain perfect voltage during switching.
This typical power grid with backup generator or 2 generator setup will result in zero gaps in current, allowing computers, transmitters, and other sensitive electronics and pumps to maintain operation no matter the power source. Any remote starting generator with both AC and DC outputs will work in the above system.
