Venting and Wire Threading
To connect these boxes together, wiring, and associated venting are required to comply with NEC code standards. Properly terminated wires with crimped or soldered lugs, heatshrinks and terminal covers greatly reduce the liklihood of sparks inside the battery box.

*To meet most local, federal, and state building codes as well as DOT transportation codes, battery boxes must be sealed, AND vented to the exterior of the building or vehicle. Some regulations even require the installtion of vent fans. THE REASON: All batteries produce an explosive mix of hydrogen and oxygen gases (electrolysis) when being overcharged, vent your battery compartments!

When selecting a charger for a UPS system, it is imperative to aquire a high quality, 3 step charger, with a quality computer interface. This allows the charger to determine the state of charge of the battery and literally turn itself off when not needed rather than overcharging and "cooking" your batteries.
To keep your batteries charged, select a charger well in excess of your usage needs. This will keep the charger from working outside of it's efficient arena, as well as minimize the losses due to heat. A good rule of thumb is selection of a charger at least 20% larger than your peak amperage, voltage, or wattage requirements. Some of our battery chargers can be stacked or wired in parallel to increase the available charging amperage to adequate levels.
